Our Dacia Jogger was collected new from Renault Liverpool on 1st December 2022. It’s a large seven seater that also had available for it, from Dacia direct, a camper pack that enabled you to sleep in the car. At over £1,300 it was out of our range, so we decided to skip it and do some DIY and so, the Dacia Jogger DIY CamperCar was born.
Four Really Useful Boxes, a few pieces of wood and gaffer tape, some luggage straps and a padded board later and we had our own camper pack. Total cost? Just over £100. Add in a set of custom thermally insulated window covers from Campal and the job was complete for less than £300.

The whole ensemble worked very well and was really flexible. There was a lot more storage under the sleeping platform than the Dacia offering. Furthermore, as it uses the folded middle row of seats as part of the sleeping platform, raised at the rear to make them level, they could be quickly restored to normal duty in less than a minute – a lot quicker than Dacia’s offering.
We have been very happy with our work and our Jogger has opened up new horizons to us. My wife and I have slept comfortably in it all over the country. However, we now have a real taste of getting away from the rat race for a few days and we want to move up to something a little bigger with a bit more utility. A £35,000 + camper van is out of our range, so we’re replacing the Jogger with a Citroen Berlingo 3 XL (Berlongo) and a boot jump from Amdro in North Wales.
For now, I’ll leave you with some photos of our beloved Jogger and one of Alison next to Amdro’s demonstrator. By the way, if anyone wants a cheap camper pack for their Jogger, complete with window covers, you can have mine for £125.
